Privacy policy
What is stored, why, and how to export or delete it: engineering-grade, not legal advice.
Cookies
This site uses only essential first-party cookies required for authentication (session + avatar-hint). No analytics, no third-party tracking, no advertising cookies. No cookie banner is shown because there is nothing to consent to beyond essential functionality.
We also set one preference cookie, lans-theme, when you pick a light, dark, or system theme
from the switch. If you picked a theme on this device before this cookie existed, we copy that
choice into the cookie once, so it carries over. It stores one word (light, dark, or
system) and nothing else, and it is not used to track you. It expires after one year; deleting
it returns the site to the default dark theme. We show no consent banner for it, since it only
records a theme choice you made yourself. It is shared between this site and your account pages
so the same choice applies on both.
What we store
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Trial dedupe (one trial per email per 30 days), license identity for the self-serve account dashboard, unsubscribe/suppression list | LicenseRecord.NormalizedEmail, SuppressedEmail |
| IP address | Abuse-review audit trail for issued licenses/trials, and short-lived rate limiting | IssuanceLogEntry.IpAddress, in-memory rate limiter state |
| License records | Running your license: key type, expiry, usage count, and revocation state | LicenseRecord |
We do not collect account passwords. Sign-in is a one-time emailed link (a “magic link”), not a stored password. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on this site.
IP address retention
IP addresses are stored in two places, with different lifetimes:
- Issuance log (
IssuanceLogEntry): durable, kept for abuse review (e.g. investigating a spike of trial signups from one address). Deleted along with your other data if you use the self-service deletion described below, for entries tied to your licenses. - Rate limiters: in-memory only, reset on server restart, never written to disk. This is an ephemeral abuse-prevention mechanism, not a stored record about you.
Payments
LansAnchor is currently trial-only. No payment is taken today, so we do not collect or store any payment or card details.
We do not share your data with any other third party. There is no advertising network, no analytics vendor, and no data broker involved anywhere in this pipeline.
Retention
- Trial and license records: kept as long as the license could still be validated, plus a reasonable period for support and abuse review, unless you request deletion (see below).
- Issuance log entries: kept for abuse review; deleted alongside the license they are tied to when you delete your account.
- Suppression list (unsubscribe/opt-out records): deleted when you delete your account.
Your rights (EU/GDPR)
If you are in the EU, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Export it in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate data (email ).
- Delete your data (“right to erasure”).
- Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.
- Complain to your local data protection authority if you believe we have mishandled your data.
Self-service
Sign in at /account with the email you used for a trial or purchase. From your dashboard:
- Download my data exports every license, issuance-log entry, and suppression status tied to your email as a JSON file.
- Delete my account and data permanently deletes your license records, their issuance-log entries, and your suppression status, and immediately revokes any active keys.
Both actions require signing in first. We never export or delete account data without proof you control the email address in question.
By email
If you cannot access your account, email from the address in question (or with enough detail to identify it) and we will handle the export or deletion request manually.
